Lindsay & Nick's Wedding

It was a beautiful summer day and even more so for Lindsay and Nick's wedding day. We started at Salon Bleu in San Clemente where Lindsay was getting her hair done. Mom and sister where there also to get their hair done, help Lindsay with little details for the wedding, and (like every wedding) driving her just a little crazy.

When they finished her hair we moved on to the next location, the South Mesa Club at Camp Pendleton where she got dressed and the ceremony took place. While waiting at the hotel for Lindsay's dress to arrive, Ashley and I took a little walk to scout locations.

A beautiful outdoor gazebo with a beach view was the location for the ceremony. As the wedding party started walking down the aisle, a guitar player played a tune. As Nick waited, their one year old bulldog did too.

After the ceremony we took pictures of their family with Lindsay and Nick. We went in the reception hall and the sweetness of the cupcakes filled the air. The band played some tunes, Lindsay and Nick danced a beautiful first dance as the sun was setting the lighting of the room was rich with warm colors and their dance seemed out of a movie, I don't think any photographers could asked for better lighting-it was simply perfect.

As the night moved along everyone at the party was just simply having a good time. We ended the night with the cupcakes, and after she put some frosting on his nose, he attacked with a cup cake to her eye! lol... the funniest thing I've ever seen at a wedding...

Well that's it, I hope you guys enjoy the pictures as much as I enjoyed working with Nick and Lindsay at their wedding on that beautiful summer day.

Well if you don't know half of my face is paralyzed its called "bell's palsy" and I had a wedding yesterday May 1st my head hurt and i couldn't focus but i had to work i committed to something greater than me two persons love for each other and they trusted me to capture their next step in life their wedding. So here are some pictures of this past Saturdays Sweet 15, Im not too big on words but i do have to say that a lot of people really cared about this girl, and its showed why, by far one of the most energetic and happy persons i have ever meet being around this girl reminded me why our teenage years are some of the best years of our life anything and everything is fun.. less worries and a lot of troubles in school.. when in reality they don't mean anything but at this age its everything. I know understand why people dint understand me when i was at this age... I guess that's enough of words... Hope you guys like em if not let me know..

So Its April and well i just turn 24 on the 3rd, so i thought that i should take pictures of my self.. i really dont like pictures of me, just because I like to be behind the camera not in front of it. Its been a long wile since I'd had my picture
taken so i decided to do it my self. Its a lot harder to do this than i thought it would be, so i took out a measuring tape set my camera on a tripod, self timer and measured the distance from my camera to where i would be sitting. Well this is what i got from it.. this is me...

Quick Photoshop Tutorial

Well i thought that I should do a quick tutorial why I don't know but I hope it can help some one.. hope you guys like it.. take it easy and enjoy.

Ricky-

1.Start with doing some adjustments to the image.
2.color correction
3.Under or over exposed adjustment.

1.Make a copy of the image (Command J)
2.Just focus on the skin.
3.When happy with the skin, add layer mask.
4.Invert the mask (Command, I).
5.Paint with the brush tool, white on the black in the layer mask.
6.when done correctly it will just show the lighter skin tone.

1.Make a copy of the original image (Command J)
2.Repeat the process but this time make the sky darker so you can get more detail on the clouds.

1.Adjust the layers Opacity so it can look realistic.
2.Select all layer and merge them into one layer (once selected press [command E])

1.Your done!!
2.To give the image more POP! Make a copy of the finish Image (Command J)
3.On the new Layer go to Filter-other-high pass.

1.You really don't need more than 8px
2.press ok

1.Set the blend mode to Overlay
2.Adjust Opacity
3.Merge the two layer into one (Command E)

1. Don't forget to save...

Rebel since day one

Rebel Air aka Jonathan Hernandez is an artist in OC, California. He started with graffiti in the streets of Mexico City and when he came to the States he noticed that you would get in a lot more trouble tagging walls. He still needed to express himself, so decided to pick up an airbrush and put the cans down, and now he makes unique art. I took some pictures of his artwork i hope you guys like his work and the pics...

Now that he does beautiful airbrush work, he wants to take another step as an artist, so he picked up a tattoo gun for his first time this past Thursday and here are some pictures of that..

In case you guys missed it i was published in Lowrider Arte Magazine February & March 2010 Issue. Wile you might think that it has something to do with me or personal work and how i wish this was true it descent, but it does have pictures I took when I cover the Micailhuitl Gallery, this gallery was by far one of the coolest gallery's i been to and covered. This gallery was about celebrating death and the people that have lived with us and died among us. In this gallery there was a lot of talented artist, i could name them all but i think it be nicer for the magazine if you pick up a copy check it out!!

hey so here I have some picture fo my friend Connie shes a ballerina, she called me recently and asked if I could take some pictures of her for her next dance audition. Of course i said yes, for this type of pictures its all about simplicity, a Portrait and a dance move "Arabesque" this is what dance company's look for when looking to take in a dancer for the company or to get a dance part... my set up was also simple.. my flash a umbrella and natural light... When she first walked in she was really nervous but slowly and with some jokes she let loose a little bit more.. that's about it well hope you guys like the pics and tell me what you think...

So i know that i haven't posted new stuff recently but its because i been busy taking pictures working and promoting so i guess that takes priority but now that im done with alot of those little gigs i have time to show some of the work i been involved with. Here is a shoot i had for Fonzy Id done various of shoot'a with him and i consider him a really talented Artist, i also got the privilege to work with Espi, really nice girl that Fonzy tattooed... well enough with the blahh blahh blahhh... Its crazy to think how much talent is out there and even more crazy to think that a lot of people don't pursue their dreams. From photographers that print and print pictures but they never get to see the light of day, as well as artist that draw and paint amazing things but they never get to be seen or even hung on a wall. Its truly depressing to see talent put away... The big guy up there gave you a talent and that becomes your voice, why stay silent why put away your dreams for a dumb ass office job, the best job you could ever have is the one that does not feel like a job. Well i think I should just stop ranting off about this, and thank Edgar Hoil for the opportunity to display my work at the Virgen de Guadalupe Gallery, it may be nothing to some veteranos that have been in a lot of different gallery's, showing work for years but for me... one of my goals in life has been scratched off Thank Edgar and thanks all the people that supported me and where part of this show to make it happen thank you all specially my girl Ash with out her... i would be one of those closet artist... thanks god bless see you around...

Gloomy and cold

As November passes by my 1st love starts to come back, the season of the holidays come uninviting with the cold and the gloomy colors come out. This is when the worst and oddly enough the best comes out of me. The worst because there's not much work no one is getting married and the ones that are well, we the photographers fight for a client like hungry wolfs out for blood ruthless and with the mentality that anything goes. When there is no work there's no money so naturally problems began to emerge and every penny that you saved has to be stretched to its fullest. depression comes and then when im at my worst all my feelings all my anger and all of me comes out trough a pencil and a sketch book, when I'm at my worst my best comes out and my first love is an animal with anger, sadness and most of all numbness ready to be put on a white piece of paper. Hahaha now you might think by reading this that im a really talented artist but no not really im actually a better photographer than an artist... and November has passed by and im beginning to feel the economy, depression is setting in witch is fine i never give up or stay down for too long, photography and my pencil will always be here. Regardless of how i am as a person its nice to know that if im rich or poor i know that i will always express my self either trough photography or art... Art is life and life with out art is not life.

Ill post some art but for now check out some pictures for Coast Airbrush Kustom Kulture Show... i hope you guys like the pics... take care and thanks for your time.

This weekend was fun, well since Thursday (Hang over Friday) for Hugo's Birth day party.. I'm Just going post some Drunk Photography.. and Saturdays Photoshoot With Santa and activities that Anaheim Ballets Nutcracker Market Place had to offer at Anaheim Garden Walk. Im also showing some of Saturdays Art Show in Pomona Micailhuitl(Day of the dead) was sick a lot of talented artist and a lot of cool people, so if you did not attend you missed out! November Friday 6th Saturday 7th and Sunday the 8th...

Well this past weekend was kinda fun i helped eric with the band room so soon there will be new pics of the band and the room, im also thinking of making them a cool music vid something small but cool(well i hope), Friday was just hanging out in the room, sat i had dinner with Ash and Hugo after that we picked up my uncle and we went to the Pins and Needles Underground Gallery 5x7 show... this has been by far one of the sickest and most motivating shows i have been to, beautiful art and most important all the talented artists... after that i went to Drew's house played some pool and lost... i sunk the cue ball on the 8 ball shot... yeah i know but in my defense i haven't played since a year ago and before that 2 years.. so i believe its justifiable... Sunday i had breakfast with my family my mom dad ash and brother it was fun since i really don't get to see them as much as i would like to. I truly enjoy their company... after that i went mini golfing for the first time.. i must say it was fun!! we should go... well enough with words and what not.. take it easy enjoy the pictures and thanks for taking your time and reading and checking out the blog...

Time of the year...

So i know that i haven't really posted much but its ok, i got some work that im working on but as we all know in the wedding business its the slow time of the year so its time for me to take out the pencils sketch books, brushes and X-acto knifes... witch means art my first love the reason why i got into photography...And a lot of art shows that im going to be attending this next couple of months but do keep connected ill post some of my art soon, and some pictures of the shows, well take it easy

So was checking my facebook today and Zack Arias posted a follow up on yesterdays blog, and i was Inspired and Motivated by the video and the man in it.
This video truly moved me because it reminded me where i come from, and what i want and where i want to be. thank you Zack and thank you Derrick for saying what most of us need to hear. So this is the video..

Shoot for the Stars

I know that it has been a wile since i been here blogging and posting how i take the pictures and f-stops and all the good stuff but i just dont see how so many people find the time to do a daily blog a weekly blog or even a monthly one... i wish i could but sometimes i cant... any way I was looking at Zack Arias blog, and he makes me think as a photographer and as a person, he seems so real he puts him self out there so people can know him... either way here is what came out of it...

Its scary to think that im a 23 year old photographer and i want to shoot for the stars, and in the proses take down my peers, but then i think im only 23 ill never reach them they have 20 - 15 years of experience or even more, i only have 8 as a photographer and 2 commercially ill never sell like they do ill never be as creative and they are, if i take a step they'll take 3. I work hard to be good at what i do, but even then i dont think my work will ever be good enough, i never taken a Photography class or a lighting class or a composition class or even a business class. So why is it that i dream of being one of the top dogs in my county, where Hollywood is my neighbor and OC is the mecca for trendy photography and every one is or wants to be a photographer... why do i believe that ill reach that....? i dont know, but one thing is for sure im not good enough but photography is all i know and its all i want to know so i push trough and dream to be as good as my pears...

April the month of the fools a month to celebrate for many reasons a month to crunch the numbers, search for eggs a month to celebrate the greens and of course arbor day and earth day, and lets not forget Buddha's birthday, New year for Thailand, Cambodia and lets not forget April 24 Arminian Remembers day. April the month of the Diamonds, Daisy's and Sweet-peas. The month of the Ram/Aries, and fire, also the month of my birthday April 3rd 1986 in a small house in Mexico City.

I have come a long way from my native home, with such a long and interesting intro April 2009 was a month not to be forgotten, I got to see Steel Panther visited WA Everett and Seattle, had some fun times with the guys and interesting job opportunities, and of course some photo shoots, a Sweet 16 Brenda Campos, a 25th anniversary Lupe and Big O and Ashley Duree's College Graduation Pictures, ohh and lets not forget i got a new puppy, Canon... yes he's named after the camera company. well with no further do lets check out the pics i took this month.

With Brendas pictures i shoot with the ambient light and a strobe at 25%, I open all the windows and sliding doors so i can have a natural feel of light... Main light was the windows and the strob at the left side was my fill light.

with this pictures i used 3 lights one behind the back drop at 50% shooting down up my key light was at left and 45 degrees right above ashely with a softbox the fill light was at the right of ashly shooting at 35 percent with a umbrella

Well im a little late with last months blog but better late than never, this month was fun and a bit interesting, but for the most part it was a blurr...but for the most part i hung out with my bestest buddy bob....and we decided that mexican day is on the 15.....how odd its Tax day too so im not sure what we where thinking but now its a yearly thing..so yeah....Yes i did take pictures this month and i got to say the 5D is the shit but nothing like my dads 5D mark II, yeah he got it... so now thats going to be my next goal to get that camera but i was also thinking of getting a nikon D3... it looks like an amazing camera... so if any one out there reads this please let me know if i should work with canon and nikon...
This month i had a couple of shoots and i think they where fun but i was not 100% satisfide with the pictures, either im just too picky or i judge my work too low who cares im not happy with it, i know i can do better, so i don't really remember all the work of March, but i know i did this i took pictures of bridget black with my friend Jack, i took some pictures of my friends Bob, Ian and ???? i also made a new friend Eyeris shes also a photographer and shes pretty good and i also took pics of her... Ohh yeah i did a Dance Competition in Long Beach...at the moment i dont have all the pics but i will by the end of the day...ohh and before i forget K-Love had to go to mexico with his pops kinda sucks but he'll be missed and i got shit face that night.

well here are some of the pics and ill post some more later but for now this is what i got

eyeris: this pictures where taken with one light i placed my self bit lower so i can get sun behing her head, why? so i can archive a god like effect, i retouched it in PS. i think this picture turn out to be my favorite one of the session... at the moment me and eyeris are talking about getting together for another shoot...(she was really shy )

Bridgit: This session i was the second photographer for my friend jack, this pictures was taken with one light the background under exposed two steps down from the light reading. I did this so i can have a darker background so she can just jump out with out blending in with the wall and graffiti and i added the tumble weed as a prop and i think it looks cool.....thats just me...
